Preview for Season 2 of Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger 0

If you’re a super sentai fan, you owe it to yourself to watch Hikonin Sentai Akibarangers. The show follows an otaku, a cosplayer, and an amateur martial artist as they become the unofficial continuation of the super sentai series, but only inside their minds.

The show is deemed “unofficial” because it’s technically not part of the franchise. Unlike the kid-targeted storylines of the official sentai shows, Akibarangers features mature, risqué topics and frequently breaks the fourth wall in order to make fun of the tropes and subculture behind the super sentai franchise.

The show ended its first season on a sad yet fairly optimistic note, as the protagonists realized that they’re just characters in a TV show and that they can’t do anything to stop their creator from ending the series. It seems that overwhelming support from the fans has convinced TOEI to bring them back for another season, and this time with some exciting new changes:

The cast of Akibaranger Season 2, premiering April 5th is:

Masato Wada as Nobuo Akagi/AkibaRed
Karin Ogino as Moegi Yumeria/Yuko Yokoyama/AkibaYellow
Shione Sawada as Mitsuki Iwashimizu/AkibaBlue – replacing Kyoko Hinami
