The first official trailer for Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past has just been released online, after months of constant “on set” teaser images from Singer’s Tweeter account. It’s a proper trailer, containing equal amounts of setup and glimpses into the kind of action we’re going to get, including a few scenes designed to make you wonder (like the scene with young Magneto and Mystique – is that the future mystique or the present day? If it’s the present day, why is Magneto attacking her when she’s supposed to be part of his crew?)
For the uninitiated, X-Men: Days of Future Past is based on the Chris Claremont-penned comic book story arc of the same name. In the comic, mutants from an alternate future in which mutants are hunted down and exterminated travel through time in order to give the X-Men a warning that may prevent the same thing from happening on their timeline. It’s not yet known how faithful Singer’s adaptation will be, but what we have now is enough to know that this is going to be one of the comic book movies you have to watch out for: Singer’s X-Men from the original trilogy meets the X-Men of First Class.
