WWE Films were never really the kind of movie studio known for high brow art films, so the recent announcement that they are going to team up with Lionsgate to reboot the Leprechaun franchise is not that big of a surprise. In fact, people even have someone to play the role of the Leprechaun in mind, considering it’s the WWE’s film.
The original Leprechaun movie follows the titular folk monster, played by Warwick Davis, with the damsel in distress being played by Jennifer Aniston in one of her first major movie roles. The WWE reboot still doesn’t have any casting details but most people (understandably) assume it’s going to star Hornswoggle, the WWE’s resident leprechaun. Variety reports that Lionsgate plans to put a “modern spin” on the series, which doesn’t sound like good news, because the last time they tried to put a modern spin on the series, we ended up with Leprechaun in the Hood, and Leprechaun in Space.
