In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz at MTV, Lorenzo di Bonaventura has confirmed that Michael Bay is on board and set to direct Transformers 4, even though Bay has already said in past interviews that Dark of the Moon would be his last. Not that we’re holding it against him. People have a right to change their minds, and if you suddenly become the highest paid director in the world because of a specific movie, I bet you won’t mind doing a 180 either.
Lorenzo also confirmed that Transformers 4 will be a reboot, but will still have some sort of continuity with the first three movies, just not with the cast – okay, maybe it’s because neither one of us have English as a native language, but Lorenzo and I seem to have different definitions for the word ‘reboot’. It doesn’t matter anyway – I don’t really care if it’s a reboot or a sequel as long as the next movie skips the parts about parents and girlfriends in favor of more scenes of robots decking the heck out of each other.
