According to WorstReviews, Paranormal Activity 2’s Tod Williams has been confirmed as the director of the upcoming big-screen adaptation of Stephen King’s bestselling novel, Cell. This is added to news back in October that John Cusack will be starring in the apocalyptic thriller, which means with a lead star and a director in place, things will finally start moving forward.
Cell is one of Stephen King’s later novels, and follows the story of a technophobe named Clayton Ridell, who finds out that his worst fears have been confirmed as an event dubbed as “The Pulse” has sent the world’s mobile phone users into a blind, murderous rage. It was only a matter of time before majority of America’s population became rampaging zombies, with Clay and a group of survivors being the only hope of getting to the bottom of what has happened.
No announcements have been made regarding the film’s release, and considering that King’s projects have a tendency to enter limbo from time to time, we’re going to be holding our breath.
