A new cast for Michael Bay’s upcoming movie reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a little bit more interesting than the usual casting decisions, as it reveals that Bay has already put his well-publicized differences with former Transformers star Megan Fox, with Fox now set to play the Turtles’ human confidante, April O’Neal.
Bay and Fox originally had a bit of a problem with each other during the making of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, resulting in Fox being written out of the storyline for the third film in the franchise. However, Bay has already confirmed their reunion on his blog:
“TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family,” says the director on Fox’s casting.
Fox’s role in the film was confirmed by Heat Vision to be that of April O’Neal, who will still be a reporter in the reboot and will become a close ally of the turtles after stumbling upon their secret lair. The Turtles will be animated using motion-capture techniques, so it’s probably a safe bet that they’re not going to cast big names for the roles.
Ninja Turtles will open in the UK on 16 May 2014.
