Steven Spielberg Eyeing Ben Whishaw for Robocalypse

Casting rumors regarding Steven Spielberg’s upcoming Sci Fi film Robopocalypse are starting to make the rounds online, with Ben Whishaw being the latest name to be rumored as part of Spielberg’s list.

Robopocalypse is based on the book of the same name written by Daniel H Wilson, in which the earth’s future is depicted as under complete control of an artificial intelligence, which used a global network of machines in order to regulate everything from transportation to defense.

Spielberg is looking at Whishaw to play the role of Lurker, who is a hacker that became central to the human resistance movement’s efforts. On the other hand, the male lead is already being circled by Chris Hemsworth, according to rumors.

Spielberg is also said to be keen on Anne Hathaway as the female lead, with Deadline.com even reporting that the actress is already in early talks regarding the role. The only confirmed bit we have now is former Fox head honcho Tom Rothman, who is confirmed as producer. Robopocalypse is slated to open in the UK on 25 April 2014.
