Universal has recently confirmed their plans to take the sequel to Snow White & The Huntsman in a direction that will focus more on Chris Hemsworth’s character instead of Snow White. This means it’s highly unlikely that Kristen Stewart will return as Snow White, except maybe as a cameo.
Universal avoids anything that would imply that the decision is related to the recent scandal involving Kristen Stewart’s affair with director Rupert Sanders, clarifying that the studio has always had plans to use the first movie as a Snow White vehicle, while devoting the sequel to The Huntsman.
Additionally, Chris Hemsworth’s bankability is on the rise these days, especially considering that he’s got two high profile films in the pipeline via Marvel’s Avengers and Thor sequels.
There’s no word on whether or not Rupert Sanders will be retained for the Snow White and the Huntsman sequel, but the studio states that they plan to begin shooting by July 2013, which is when Hemsworth’s busy schedule opens up.
