Sinister Sequel Gets Greenlighted 0

Despite having a very popular lead star with Ethan Hawke, 2012’s Sinister was fairly low budget, with the total budget only amounting to $3m. So it was considered a massive success when it managed to gross $78m at the box office, which means nobody will be surprised at the news that Blumhouse Production is keen to go for round two, and possibly turn it into a franchise not unlike Paranormal Activity.

The first film had Ethan Hawke playing the role of a true crime writer who decides to move his entire family into the house of a serial killer’s former victims. What started out as an investigation into an unsolved crime turns into something else altogether.

Scott Derrickson is in talks to return to the director’s chair, while he and co-writer C. Robert Cargill will be on script duties once more. Casting, at this stage, remains cloaked in secrecy…
