The Joseph Gordon Levitt-produced adaptation of the Sandman comic books has recently appointed a new screenwriter: How I Live Now scribe Jack Thorne. The film will also be co-produced by David S. Goyer, whose pitch the script will be based upon.

The Sandman comic books were penned by Neil Gaiman, focusing on the Lord of Dreams, Morpheus, who was captured by a mortal man and kept under captivity for a long time. Upon his return, he finds that his realm has decayed and is now a mere shadow of its former self.
