Over the past few weeks, Marvel’s big screen adaptation of Guardians of the Galaxy has cast some high profile names such as Benicio Del Toro, Karen Gillan, and Lee Pace, but hasn’t revealed the specific parts they are going to play. Fast forward to today, where rumors are starting to surface regarding the roles, all of which are said to be villains.
According to Den of Geek, Benicio Del Toro will be playing The Collector, which is a well-intentioned but ultimately misguided cosmic villain who seeks to collect samples of various life forms, in order to protect them from the mass destruction wreaked by the mad titan Thanos.
Lee Pace, on the other hand, is said to be playing the role of the Kree villain and son of Thanos, Ronan the Accuser. Last up is former Doctor Who companion Karen Gillan, playing the space pirate, and supposed granddaughter of Thanos, Nebula.
The common link between the three characters is Thanos, who was last seen during the post ending credits scene from The Avengers, who is widely believed to be the main villain of the next Avengers outing.
