While it was previously confirmed by Marvel reps and Downey jr. that the current Iron Man movie franchise ends at 3, Robert Downey Jr. has recently generated a lot of buzz by confirming during an Ellen Degeneres interview that a fourth installment in the franchise is in the pipeline.
“I know there’s going to be more Marvel movies, and they have big ideas of how to do it best,” said Downey, when the Ellen raised the question Downey Jr. replied with “We’re in the middle of negotiations, blah blah blah.”
However, the host refused to accept any answer but a definitive one, so Downey caved in.
“Yes”, Downey relented, replying, “okay, yes.”
As for the subject of having Coulson be part of the fourth film, Downey has a less positive reply:
“Nothing is impossible,” he said of a potential cameo, “but there might be a fair amount of red tape involved in something like that. I love Clark Gregg, and am pleased the show is doing so well.”
