Early this year, Vin Diesel announced that Universal had greenlighted the sequel to the sci fi actioner Riddick, despite knowing that the resulting film would be given an R-Rating. And as additional proof that Vin Diesel possesses the ability to see into the future (among other powers beyond the ken of mortal men), the MPAA has indeed awarded an R-Rating certificate to the film.
The MPAA has awarded the certificate for reasons that include “strong violence, language and some sexual content/nudity,” which reads a lot like the kind of life I’ve been wishing for when I was a teenager, but was unable to achieve because REALITY, F YOU.
Riddick will follow the eponymous mercenary as he is left for dead on a sun scorched planet that everyone just assumed to be lifeless. Unfortunately, it soon proved to be the natural habitat of bloodthirsty inhabitants who aren’t shy about putting Riddick in their menu for the day.
Riddick will open in 2013, with a specific release date to be confirmed.
