A new behind-the-scenes featurette has been released for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, in which the movie’s cast and crew talk about the creation of the titular ship. The movie’s production designer Arthur Max has made it a point to avoid clichés normally associated with movie portrayals of spaceships, and it seems like he was able to succeed for the most part:
The clip has stars Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender saying that the interior of Prometheus is very immersive, and as far removed from the old Nostromo as you could wish for:
It should be worth noting that one the reasons why Ridley Scott returned to sci fi is to take up the challenge of doing something new within a distinctly well-worn genre, and it seems like that reasoning has affected Prometheus in major factors such as production, storyline, and even down to the nuts and bolts of the ship.
Prometheus opens in the UK on 1 June 2012.
