It’s been a decade since Patrick Stewart spent a large amount of time filling in Professor Xavier’s wheelchair, and it brings joy to fans’ hearts that he’s going to be returning to the role in X-Men: Days of Future Past. However, it seems like he’s going to do one better, as the veteran actor has recently hinted that he may return to the role in the next installment, X-Men: Apocalypse.
“I don’t see why not,” said Stewart when asked whether he might reappear in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse. “That is one of the blessings about fantasy and science fiction. You’re never really dead. I would love to come back and do some more.”
Fans will remember that Professor X allegedly died in Bryan Singer’s original X-Men trilogy, but the end of the Last Stand hinted at an apparent resurrection. Stewart seems open to the idea of something more:
“There might be something else,” continued Stewart, when pressed on future X-Men projects. “A little bird has whispered that there might be something X-Men-related.”
