Things really seem to be moving much faster after Bill Murray revealed what was really preventing him from signing up for Ghostbusters 3 (basically, the script was lousy). First, we had Aykroyd responding by stating that the script will be undergoing a full rewrite and the current writing team will be replaced. Now, we have received information that the script will be rewritten by Etan Cohen, who is fresh off the recent blockbuster success of Men in Black 3.
The original script for Ghostbusters 3 was penned by The Office: An American Workplace duo Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, whom Aykroyd originally hired in good faith. Now it seems like Aykroyd is willing to give Murray and fans who trust Murray’s taste what they want, just to get things rolling.
“It’s got to be perfect,” conceded Aykroyd. “That’s the whole thing. There’s no point in doing it unless it’s perfect. So that’s what we’re up to now.”
