We’re not really sure if this can be treated as good news or bad news (or a hybrid of both: bood news?) On the one hand, the sequel to the cult sci-fi film Chronicle is moving forward and is still on track. On the other hand, Max Landis has dropped out of the project.
Max Landis penned the script for the original film, which focuses on a trio of teenagers who suddenly gained superhuman powers after accidentally coming into close contact with an extraterrestrial artifact.
According to rumors, Fox was unhappy with Landis’ script, with Landis confirming that he’s been off the project for a couple of months now.
“Fox had a different direction they wanted to take the series,” explains Landis. “The truth is, when you’re successful as a screenwriter, you have to just take everything in stride. That’s like more than half the job.”
“Chronicle 2 is still probably happening, just not with my involvement as of now. It’s a bummer, but there are no real hard feelings. They hired new writers on it. I’m sure they’ll announce soon.”
