After the confirmation of Dane DeHaan, Jamie Foxx, and Shailene Woodley in the upcoming sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, another big name star has been attached to the project by way of the Sheen patriarch’s return as Uncle Ben.
“They’ve called me back,” said Martin Sheen. “I don’t know what the part is gonna be, but I’m going to be Uncle Ben once again in Spider-Man next year. We shoot it in February.”
We don’t think this counts as a spoiler at this point (at least, as much as “Bruce Wayne’s Parents are Dead!”), but Uncle Ben was already shot dead in the first film, so it’s either Sheen’s return will be as a flashback, an illusion caused by Parker’s grief, or through some weird storyline that has the dead coming back to life.
Directed by Marc Webb and co-starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will open in the UK on 18 April 2014.
