According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Marc Forster will not return for the sequel to World War Z, despite the film earning a very handsome profit at the box office and garnering praise from critics and viewers alike. While the decision to drop out of the sequel is confirmed, there were no reasons provided.
One of the reasons being put forward by people in the know is that the director probably wasn’t too keen on going through the same torturous production process, which reportedly included shooting an entirely new third act. Thankfully for people who don’t want the sequel to look like it’s an entirely different franchise, lead star Brad Pitt is definitely returning and is already setting up the sequel via his production outfit Plan B Entertainment.
