In a recent interview with VH1, actor Michael Shannon, who’s going to play Zod in the upcoming Superman reboot titled Man of Steel, has confirmed that the line “Kneel Before Zod” will not be uttered by his character in the movie.
“I don’t say that in the movie,” Shannon admits.
The iconic put down was originally made famous by Terence Stamp, who played General Zod in Superman II opposite Christopher Reeves. The line has since become so deeply associated with Stamp, and has been parodied endless times throughout the years, so perhaps Shannon’s Zod avoiding that line is a good way to avoid camp and self-reference.
Man Of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder, and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Kevin Costner, and it opens in the UK on 14 June 2013.
