It’s a sad news that after the deluge of behind the scene photos and information a few months ago, the US release of Universal’s Kick-Ass 2 has been pushed back to August 2013, in order to make room for another comic book adaptation titled 2 Guns. Guns 2 will be moved forward to early August, while Kick-Ass 2 will be arriving in US big screens on August 16, 2013.
There’s no controversial reason about the delay, and it seems to be only a simple scheduling tweak on the part of the studio. There’s no problems with Kick-Ass 2’s production, but the film has been under development for so long that it’s understandable when fans start to panic.
Comic book readers will already know what it’s all about, but those who aren’t should note that Kick-Ass 2 will follow on the progression of Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s character, The Red Mist, as he renames himself and uses his inheritance to go into outright villainy, including starting a group of costumed villains and hiring his own bodyguard, the former Spetznaz, former KGB agent, assassin for hire dubbed Mother Russia, who was hired primarily out of The Red Mist’s fear of Hit-Girl.
