Whedon was one of the names originally rumored to be handling Star Wars Episode VII, but with J.J. Abrams now in charge, nobody is complaining (add the fact that people don’t have any qualms about what Whedon is doing with Marvel), but Whedon has recently given his two cents about the return of the original cast members Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, and Harrison Ford, stating that he would have done things differently:
“You know, I wouldn’t go back, I’d go forward,” Whedon told Digital Spy. “I would want to create characters that would resonate the way that they did. I mean not that I don’t want to see [the new movies], I would be excited to, but I also feel like I would want to explore a very different part of that universe.”
Whedon was also equally dismissive of the rumored Han Solo spin-off, which will feature a younger version of the mercenary.
“That I would never want to do,” remarked Whedon. “Some things may not be rebooted.”
