According to a recent Variety report, actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd are on top of the list of actors being considered for the lead in Marvel’s upcoming big-screen adaptation of Ant Man, with the two stars reportedly scheduled to meet with Marvel execs and helmer Edgar Wright, before the studio makes its decision.
In previous reports, it was stated that Wright was specifically looking for an actor that would not be cut out of the same ‘beefcake-action-hero’ mold that most male superheroes require, choosing to go with an everyman actor. In this case, we’re placing our bets on Paul Rudd – he looks more “non-heroic” than JGL, given the latter’s previous dalliance with action and superheroics courtesy of Christopher Nolan.
It is also worth pointing out that should Rudd get the part, he will be going from buddy and romantic comedies to full-on Marvel Superhero. The last time Marvel did that, they got Tony Stark.
