According to Deadline.com, Kick-Ass 2 may possibly add a new major name to its ensemble cast, with Jim Carey reportedly being eyed by Warner Bros for the upcoming sequel. The Deadline report states that Warner is keen on adding the veteran comedian to its lineup, with the studio picturing him for the role of Colonel Stars.
Colonel Stars is the founding member of the “superhero” team Justice Forever, a ragtag group of superheroes who took up crime fighting after being inspired by Kickass. Colonel Stars is a former mobster thug who became a born again Christian. He is in charge of Justice Forever’s recruitment efforts.
No agreements between the two parties have been made yet, though it is said that the studio has already approached Carrey, and Carrey for his part is reportedly a fan of the original movie. Carrey’s last film was 2011’s Mr. Popper’s Penguins, and his last major role was as Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. Kick-Ass 2 may be the perfect project to put him back in the limelight.
