If Marvel is looking for another big name actor for their next round of superhero projects, they can look in Jean-Claude Van Damme’s direction as the martial artist/action star has made it known that he’s ready and willing to join in on the fun.
Van Damme’s statement was a response to comments from Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor in Marvel’s movies that he’d like to star opposite the Belgian action star. Van Damme further revealed several Marvel properties that he’d be keen on:
“I read that Chris Hemsworth would like me to co-star in The Avengers 2,” said JCVD on Facebook. “It would be fun to play one of these types of amazing comic book characters again. By the way, I am a big fan of Marvel’s superhero Silver Surfer and also another heroic fictional character known as Doc Savage – the Man of Bronze!
One thing to keep in mind is that the Marvel franchises are currently split between three different companies. Whedon’s projects (the tightly wound continuity that includes the entire Avengers roster) are with Disney, Spider-Man is with Sony, and the Fantastic Four (which include the Silver Surfer character and Galactus) is with Fox. If JVCD wants to play the Silver Surfer, he’s going to have to go with the less popular and less liked Marvel movies at Fox. Still, it would be amazing to see cosmic surfboard splits in outer space.
