Indiana Jones 5 Unlikely, says Producer

A lot of filmgoers believe that the Indiana Jones franchise is already dead, what with the most recent one playing host to giant ants, swinging monkeys, and nuclear-proof refrigerators, but rumors about a fifth installment are still floating around all over the net, and it is producer Frank Marshall himself who is actually trying to put an end to the rumors, stating that a fifth installment is highly unlikely at this point:

“I say, for me, [Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is] the last hurrah,” says Marshall. “I know that yes, we talk about it, but there’s no idea, there’s no MacGuffin.” Last we’d heard was that Spielberg and Lucas were working on a “gem of an idea”, but apparently that hasn’t developed into a fully blown script.”

Additionally, Lucas himself stepping down from LucasFilms is another hurdle to getting Indiana Jones 5 realized, with Marshall’s wife Kathleen, poised to take over the reigns of LucasFilms:

“Yeah, no he isn’t [hungry to do another Indiana Jones]”, says Marshall, “and he’s obviously passing the baton to my wife.”
