There’s been a lot of talk about Quicksilver being part of both Marvel’s The Avengers 2 and Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, but it seems like that character is far from being the only mutant interested in appearing in both franchises.
Hugh Jackman has talked about the possibility of a series crossover, and has expressed a willingness to take Wolverine into the same movie universe as Iron Man and the rest of the Avengers.
“One of the great things about (The Wolverine) is that a lot of people from Marvel are here and it seems a lot more inclusive than it has been in the past,” says Jackman.
“I don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes, but I think it’s fantastic. I actually just asked the other day, I said, ‘I don’t know what the legal situation is, but why don’t these companies come together? Why isn’t it possible?’”
“Because personally, I would love to mix it up with Robert Downey Jr. and Iron Man and kick his ass. It’d be great… Consistency is incredible. Who wouldn’t want to be involved with that?”
Given that Wolverine and the X-Men are some of the most lucrative properties in Fox’s comic book stable right now (they only have FF and X-Men now, after losing the rights to Daredevil, Punisher, Blade, and the Ghost Rider), it’s not very likely to happen. But if for some reason Fox and Marvel are willing to cooperate, there is legal basis as both studios have rights to use Wolverine, due to the character being part of both the Avengers and the X-Men.
