Ben Affleck being cast as Batman in Zack Snyder’s upcoming sequel to Man of Steel is easily one of the most talked-about issues these days, with a large part of the vocal public rejecting the idea that Bruce Wayne and his black-clad alter ego will be played by the View Askew veteran. However, a lot of celebrities have also given their two cents on the casting, with most of them being in favor of the Batffleck. Matt Damon will be a given, but the newest one may come as a surprise to some – series regular composer Hans Zimmer:
“I actually think it’s a really good choice, because number one, he’s a great filmmaker,” says Zimmer. “He’s smart. He wouldn’t have taken it if he had set himself up for a fall.”
“And, you know, he’s a bit older these days and that’s what we need,” continues the composer. “And he’s got a good chin.”
As for whether Zimmer is open to return to the franchise, his reply seems to imply that he’s at least open to the possibility:
“I’ll have to think about that one,” said Zimmer. “I might give you a new Batman if I do it.” Batman vs. Superman opens in the US on 17 July 2015, with a UK date to be confirmed.
