It’s been a long time since we’ve had any news about Hollywood’s Godzilla reboot. This time, Frank Darabont is said to have been drafted in to rewrite the script. A new batch of actors are also put forward as possible leads.
The original draft was written by Max Borenstein, but director Gareth Edwards is aiming for a more “grounded, realistic” tone, which resulted in Darabont getting approached to give it a do-over.
As for casting, it’s rumored that the host of leading men being considered for the role include Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but the actor has already refused in favor of Sin City 2. With the field left wide open, other actors that have been circling around the role include Henry Cavill, Scoot McNairy, and Caleb Landry-Jones. McNairy seems to have an advantage as he has already worked with Edwards on the breakthrough hit Monsters.
