Vehicle-oriented action film Fast & Furious 6 has just risen to the to of the US box office, as part of a batch of big name releases that produced the biggest Memorial Day box office of all time, via an impressive $98.5 million in its opening weekend, further proving that the is still a lot of life left in the franchise even after its 6th lap.

With The Hangover 3, Star Trek Into Darkness, Iron Man 3, and the Great Gatsby all adding to the top ten pot, this year easily surpasses 2011’s $223 million record, especially since the final figure is yet to be confirmed.

Iron Man 3 still being in the top ten and sailing past $1.1 billion is mighty impressive and will definitely increase the likelihood of a fourth solo outing for the armored Avenger, much in the same way a Fast & Furious 7 is starting to become even more likely.
