No one these days is surprised that DC is aiming to use their non-superhero comic books to expand their movie universe, as Marvel has pretty much beaten them in round one of the superhero movie war. As for which non-superhero comic book was to be adopted, DC settled on Bill Willingham’s long-running fantasy series Fables, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, the adaptation has just landed a new director.
The adaptation is being developed by Harry Potter producer David Heyman, and A Royal Affair’s Nikolaj Arcel is set to direct. The script will be penned by Jeremy Slater, based on Bill Willingham’s source material.
For those not in the know, Fables follows a group of famous fairy tale characters, such as Snow White, Prince Charming, the Big Bad Wolf, and others who have fled their fantasy world and settled in present-day New York, in order to escape the tyrant who has taken over their lands.
