Even though Prometheus received lukewarm responses during its run last year, Fox is still interested in producing a sequel, this time continuing the adventures of Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (who we last saw piloting a ship towards the planet of the engineers, with David in tow).
Screenwriter Damon Lindelof has already confirmed that he will not be returning for the sequel, news that many entertainment sites believe to have thrown the studio for a loop. However, Lindelof himself has responded to the rumors of his non involvement causing problems with the studio, by saying that there are plenty of writers who can take over:
“As to whether Ridley and Fox are ‘freaking out’ about me not working on a sequel, well that’s news to me,” says Lindelof. “I retain awesome relationships with both.”
“More importantly, the idea that there aren’t many, MANY writers out there capable of taking the reins is sort of ridiculous. I did not map out a trilogy and then walk when the going got tough. Anyone who says otherwise doesn’t know me and doesn’t know the truth.”
