Clive Owen and Mia Wasikowska offered roles in Oldboy Remake

It has recently been reported that Clive Owen was offered the antagonist’s role in Spike Lee’s remake of Park Chan-Wook’s ‘Oldboy’ (which was based on Garon Tsuchiya and Nobuaki Minegishi’s manga of the same name). The role was previously offered to Colin Firth but the actor declined. Another potential cast is Mia Wasikowska (of Jane Eyre), who’s been asked to join as the female lead.

Clive Owen deserves no introduction, but Mia Wasikowska herself has weight to throw around, and already has history with Oldboy’s original director Park Chan-Wook. Wasikowska recently appeared in Park Chan-Wook’s English language film debut, Stoker. The ‘Oldboy’ female lead was previously offered to Rooney Mara of The Girl with the Dragon Tatttoo.

Keep in mind that the offers are still up in the air and neither actor has accepted or declined (or at least, no public announcements were made regarding their response to the offer).
