Kevin Smith recently took to Facebook in order to reveal that the first draft for the much-awaited sequel to his slacker comedy Clerks 3 is already complete. The director posted “it is accomplished!” in all caps on the social networking site, followed by a slightly more detailed announcement:

“First draft of CLERKS III is 137 pages. Plays like the EMPIRE STRIKES BACK of what’s now become the Clerks Trilogy. And I am SO in love with it.”

Smith already stated a few months ago that the 3rd installment in the Clerks film franchise could take the form of a comic book or an online series, but it seems like the franchise is headed back to the big screen.

“Pictured is the script with the clapboard we used on the original CLERKS,” continued Smith. “Both the old clapboard and the old filmmaker are ready to go back to Jersey for the last time.”
