Even though we have yet to see all the villains in the upcoming Avengers movie, people are already talking about the possible villain in another or Marvel’s upcoming big screen projects, Iron Man 3. According to a recent Variety report, Ben Kingsley is in talks to play the antagonist for Robert Downey Jr’s third Iron Man movie.
Contrary to some rumors, several studio insiders have suggested that Kingsley will not play the Mandarin. Instead, the plot will likely center around Tony Stark’s various experiments with nano technology, with Kingsley’s character threatening Iron Man with a nanovirus that has the capability to neutralise the suit.
If the proposed plot sounds familiar to you, it’s because it’s loosely based on Warren Ellis’ Extremis series. The production is scheduled to begin in May, with Downey Jr. and Kingsley being joined with returning cast members Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Scarlett Johansson, all of whom have already agreed to reprise their roles.
