Now that Ben Affleck seems to have proven himself as a more bankable director than he was as an actor, it’s not surprising that Warner has given him the option of helming one of their major properties, Stephen King’s The Stand.
Unfortunately, the project is having trouble getting past the development stage, and Affleck himself has admitted that he’s having trouble getting the project to work out, considering the sheer volume of material in the series. But that doesn’t diminish the young director’s excitement at the film:
“Right now we’re having a very hard time,” says Affleck. “But I like the idea – it’s like The Lord Of The Rings in America. And it’s about how we would reinvent ourselves as a society. If we started all over again, what would we do?”
