Anne Hathaway’s version of Catwoman was one of the highlights of The Dark Knight Rises, despite the fact that fans were initially critical of both the actress’ casting, and the character being included in the film. It is therefore not surprising that people are talking about a potential spin-off, not wanting to let the character disappear after only one outing.
Of course, the last time a solo Catwoman movie happened, it was universally panned. So it’s also not surprising if the studios don’t want another one, but fans have a feeling that Nolan’s version would work as a solo film. Even Hathaway herself isn’t averse to the possibility:
“No one’s talked to me about it she said. “[But] I would love it. I was at a press [conference] the other night for a screening of The Dark Knight Rises, and the moderator asked me, ‘So what was it like to say goodbye to the character?’ And I burst into tears, because I miss her.”
Nolan has made it quite clear that the universe he created in The Dark Knight trilogy will never be revisited, but stranger things have happened in Hollywood. We’ve got the Justice League movie as a potential vehicle, and we don’t think majority of fans will hold it against Nolan if he changes his mind.
