There seems to be a lot of delays going on with films scheduled for a 2013 release. First it was Jurassic Park 4, which Universal has put on indefinite hold/hiatus. Now, it’s 300: Rise of an Empire, which has been pushed back to March 7, 2014 from its original August 2013 schedule.
There’s been no official announcement on why 300: Rise of an Empire was rescheduled, and for their part, Universal was also skirting around the issue by stating that they needed more time to bring the best possible version of JP4. Some rumors are floating around that the recent delays and schedule changes among movies in 2013 were all because the studios weren’t confident that they’d be able to walk away unscathed from screening alongside the upcoming box office juggernauts from DC and Marvel. It’s not something that the studios would admit even if it were true, but it’s perfectly understandable.
