With the exception of some really crappy amateur projects, there haven’t been any Dragon Ball games on tablets and smartphones, but that’s going to change soon, as official license owners Namco Bandai will be releasing Dragon Ball: Tap Battle for Android and iOS-based devices in Japan.
The game is exactly what the name suggests – it’s a fighting game that lets you control the characters or perform moves simply by tapping the screen. Think of it as a fighting game that uses Quick Time Events as the main control method. Before you complain about the lack of freedom, remember that it’s on a touchscreen device, and remember how awful virtual touchscreen gamepads can be, especially on games that require fast reaction times like fighting games.
Dragon Ball: Tap Battle will be priced at ¥350 ($3.75), Dragon Ball: Tap Battle will be compatible with iPhone (4, 4S, and 5) and Android devices (version 2.3 or higher).
