Not every upcoming Wii U game was given a chance to show off during this morning’s E3 press con, which is a shame because one game would have gotten the attention of Nintendo fans: Platinum Games’ Project P-100.
Platinum Games is known for two of their previous games, MadWorld and Bayonetta, with the former getting a lot of hype for being one of the most violent games on the otherwise kid-friendly Wii, and the latter for being a witty, fun, 3rd person hack and slash in the same vein as Capcom’s Devil May Cry series.
Project P-100 might remind you of another Capcom game, Viewtiful Joe, due to its use of super deformed characters and sentai costumes. The game’s premise is that Earth is under attack from an invasion of giant aliens, and the planet’s only line of defense is a group of unlikely heroes with special abilities, who must band together to stop the alien invading force. The heroes have the ability to morph into powerful weapons or turn into objects that can interact with the environment.
Players can use the Wii U GamePad’s touch screen to command heroes such as Bonzai Man, Vending Machine Man and even Toilet Bowl Man. Heroes can also morph into gelatin to guard themselves from enemy attacks.
Players can also use the GamePad to explore areas unseen on the TV screen and solve puzzle elements.
There’s no announcement yet if the game is going to be Wii-U exclusive.
