A lot has been said about the misogynistic lyrics of Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” but apparently all that discussion was missed by whoever is handling the Japanese pop idol stable AKB48, as two of its members have crossed over into the MTV Video Music Award-nominated video.
They seem to enjoy dancing to it, and while we’re not exactly sure if they are aware that they are bopping and dancing around like 10 year olds (dude) to lyrics that many people have interpreted as a promotion of rape culture, we’re betting our money on “NO” simply because this is the same pop idol group that forbids its members to have relationships in order to remain appealing to its fans.
