A recent Capcom survey regarding fan interest in future digital releases had the Street Fighter Alpha series as one of the franchises that fans would love to see revived, and a large number of Street Fighter IV’s cast, such as Gen, Dan, Sakura, Guy, Cody, Rose, Adon, and Evil Ryu, are all Alpha characters. It is therefore not surprising that Street Fighter series producer Yoshinori Ono is interested in reviving the Alpha series.
The reveal came out of a recent exchange of tweets between a gamer with the handle CSLFiero, who tweeted “Here’s to a hoping a console release of Alpha 3 Max with DS: Resurrection,” and promptly got a reply from Ono himself:
@Yoshi_OnoChin: “I have interest in making something for [Alpha] series ;D”
It’s certainly a welcome development, should it come to pass, as the Alpha games weren’t seen in any form since 2006’s Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX, with the prequels having stopped in favor of the 2D sequel Street Fighter III series and the 3D IV.
