Nintendo Mulling Over 2D and 3D Metroid 0

These past few years, longtime fans of the Metroid franchise have started developing the notion that Nintendo doesn’t care as much for the franchise as they did 2 generations ago. However, a recent Kotaku interview with Shigeru Miyamoto and Shinya Takahashi reveals that the franchise might be getting some love in the future, as the company is currently having internal discussions on what they can do next with the Metroid franchise:

“So at this point we have two different types of Metroid games,” Takahashi said. “We have the Prime style of Metroid game and we have the more traditional style of Metroid game… We feel that we do need to take care of both of these styles of play. And the hope is that at some point in the near future we’ll be able to share something about them.”
