It’s been reported a few days ago that the next installment of Super Smash Bros. will include the Blue Bomber himself, Mega Man, as a playable character. It’s a welcome bit of news as many fans have been itching for a chance to pit the character against other established icons, but one of the more pressing concerns is how Mega Man, who has the ability to absorb his opponents’ powers, is eaten by another character who has the same ability, Kirby. Super Smash Bros. designer Masahiro Sakurai was very coy about what we can expect:
“A lot of what you’re asking is still classified,” Sakurai said. “As far as the physical appearance of Kirby, I think what you imagine is probably pretty close to what will actually happen.” He then put his hands next to his head.
One negative bit of news about the next installment in the SSB franchise is the fact that even though there will be ports for the Wii U and the 3DS, there will be no cross platform play. Instead, we’ll get the ability to transfer customized characters between the two versions.
