Hideo Kojima has already been very vocal about his desire to take on a less active role in the Metal Gear franchise, which has become synonymous with his name on account of his status as its creator. In a recent interview with Game Informer, Kojima revisited the idea and contrary to what most people expect, he isn’t planning to step away from the franchise in order to pursue a career in filmmaking. Rather, Kojima wants to focus on other games:
“Ideally I would like to step out from the Metal Gear franchise as a producer and dedicate myself to other games,” says Kokima. “so far that has proven to be a bit difficult.” Kojima goes on to say that he “would like to make more games that have that indie game taste or some completely different type of game with a big budget.”
That doesn’t mean a Kojima film is no longer possible. He stated that he’s still interested in a novel or movie, and that there are many things he would like to do before he dies.
