The Playstation 2 has always been my favorite console of that generation, and now that I no longer have the disposable income necessary to buy new game consoles, it’s pretty much going to be my favorite console of all time. Lots of innovative games that age well, and the first batch of Dragonball and Naruto games that actually do the shows justice.
Unfortunately, much-maligned games retailer Gamestop will be putting an end to my steady stream of cheap, 2nd hand PS2 games as they have recently confirmed via front counter placards that all stores will be ending PS2 trade ins, as well as console sales, effective on June 1st. You can check out what the placards look below:
Thankfully for people like me, there is a Playstation 2 emulator now that only requires a midrange modern PC to run well. I’ll have some way of playing my favorite PS2 games years after Gamestop itself has folded.
