Arc System Works is going to make a return to the franchise that put them on the fighting game map, with the announcement of a new Guilty Gear game, titled Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- (as per usual, the title doesn’t make any sense). A new trailer has also been posted, you can watch it below:
What’s interesting about this new Guilty Gear game is that it runs on the Unreal Engine, which is originally meant for First Person Shooters but has been used to power a wide variety of games that include RPGs, Third Person Brawlers, Racing Games, and even a couple of 3D fighting games like Mortal Kombat vs. DC and the 2011 MK reboot. The look that Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- managed to achieve is spectacular, as it looks like it’s hand-drawn 2D instead of cel-shaded. If you just watched the trailer without knowing anything, you’d assume that it’s a cartoon instead of in-game footage.
