This coming September, yet another classic video game gem will be returning, all decked out in shiny new graphical improvements, perfectly mixing the sweet addictive gameplay of yesterday with the power of modern hardware. The game? Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, which was originally released on Sega’s popular 16-bit game console, the Genesis (Megadrive for some parts of the world). According to Sega, the Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse remake will be released on the PS3 on September 3, followed by a PC and Xbox 360 release on September 4.
The Castle of Illusion remake will be priced at $14.99 on all platforms, and while pre-ordering on the PSN between August 20 and September 2 won’t get you a discount on the price, you will get a bonus: a downloadable copy of the original Sega Genesis version of the game (the downloadable bonus can be downloaded and installed as soon as you pre-order, which should tide you over until the proper release of the remake). Pre-ordering also nets you a dynamic theme and 3 avatars.
