Over the past few months, Capcom seems to have finally remembered just how rich their library of past titles really are, with re-releases and HD updates of classic coin-gobblers like the Darkstalkers series, the Marvel vs. series, and even the Dungeons & Dragons titles. The latest classic that they decided to relaunch is the intra-company crossover Capcom vs. SNK 2, which is slated for launch as a PS2 Classic on PSN Next Month.
For those unfamiliar with the game, the Capcom vs. SNK is a fighting game that pits popular characters from Capcom’s fighting games (from Street Fighter, Rival Schools, etc) against popular characters from SNK’s games (King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, etc.) The game is worth noting for letting players choose the style of play and timing they are more comfortable with, so it was possible to play a Ken that handled more like Iori Yagami (both shoto-style characters, but had different feels due to timing) and vice versa.
Capcom pegs the release of Capcom vs. SNK 2 on the PSN as late April. Capcom USA’s Senior Vice President Christian Svensson, however, states that “if Sony chooses, that could move.”
