In a recent press release, Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed III will also be released for the Nintendo Wii U, which would be the first time an Assassin’s Creed game will be released on a Nintendo console (console, not handheld. The DS has two Assassin’s Creed games). It’s also worth noting that Ubisoft has already announced in the past that the Wii U will have an Assassin’s Creed game, but most people assumed that it’s going to be a different game and not a port of the main series.
This is a positive development for Nintendo, as it seems that the third party games on their system will now be on par with Sony and Microsoft’s, third party support being one of the weak aspects of the Wii. Perhaps this is because the Wii U now has the hardware power to compete with the other consoles, making ports between 3 systems that much easier.
Unfortunately, Ubisoft has not given a concrete release date for Assassin’s Creed, probably as a means of avoiding any leakage on the Wii U’s console launch date.
